Where There Is A Will...

Post by Sax »

Would it be possible to improve some SCs by capping an elite skill for the first time on a new character during the run? Then, you could have 2 or more elite skills, depending on the area. It might sound a bit silly, but we're talking about world records here.

ALMOST certainly not. The majority of elite skills are actually pretty terrible for record stuff. The chances of a useful one appearing on a boss in the area you want to use it are already very low. Include the fact that you need to run a build that can make effective use of that elite (correct secondary, probably some attribute points) and drop a PvE skill for Signet of Capture, and you still need to kill the boss in a timely manner.

Perhaps Sunjiang District VQ (today's ZV!) is a good candidate. Bring an A/D bar with Vow of Strength, Shroud, Honor, maybe Grenth's Aura... cap Shadow Form. Now maybe you can solo the vanquish. Have fun!

I appreciate the reply. It was an idea I had cooking for a while, but I didn't mention it to anyone and I didn't have an answer since I haven't done records in any amount of depth.

I'm sure everyone would love to see it done. That kind of dedication for such an innovative tactic is awesome, even if it is for a shitty VQ record.

nope, you'd need to develop a new character for every single attempt

Yeah, hence me saying it would be a bit silly. But I appreciate you calling my idea innovative, Misty! I hope others will be able to confirm or deny whether this idea would help with other runs.

Didnt we just talk about this like 2 months ago Misty? Or maybe it was with James...

What we came up with is that the highest potential is probably VoS in combination with spellprotection, so areas where you can either cap vos or shadowform or the dervish skill however it is called. Also the avatar skills might be worth capping, grenths or balthazars might compensate for the timeloss you have.
