Formatting of TAS/Standard/Pure records in the record tables

Post by Flo »

With the rising number of TAS/Pure records being posted the record tables get a little hard to look at, since the number of players and the time achieved arent necessarily in the same "column" anymore.

Please leave your thoughts (and ideas) on better formatting and visibility here!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current formatting (category tagged before number of players)

Current Meta Elite Area Records (Gw 36.593)

Domain of Anguish

[TAS] 8 players [-] (15min) : Thread
8 players [Golt] (16min) : Thread
[TAS] 3 players [-] (29min) : Thread
[TAS] 2 players [Loa]/[Zraw] (34min) : Thread
2 players [Loa]/[Golt] (37min) : Thread
[TAS] 1 player [Loa] (53min) : Thread
1 player [Loa] (58min) : Thread
[PURE] 1 player [Loa] (59min) : Thread

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Potentially new formatting (category tagged after the time)

Current Meta Elite Area Records (Gw 36.593)

Domain of Anguish

8 players [-] (15min [TAS]) : Thread
8 players [Golt] (16min) : Thread
3 players [-] (29min [TAS]) : Thread
2 players [Loa]/[Zraw] (34min [TAS]) : Thread
2 players [Loa]/[Golt] (37min) : Thread
1 player [Loa] (53min [TAS]) : Thread
1 player [Loa] (58min) : Thread
1 player [Loa] (59min [PURE]) : Thread

How about:

[TAS]8 players[-](15min) Thread
8 players[Golt](16min)Thread
[TAS]3 players[-](29min)Thread
[TAS]2 players[Loa]/[Zraw](34min)Thread
2 players[Loa]/[Golt](37min) Thread
[TAS]1 player[Loa](53min)Thread
1 player[Loa](58min)Thread
[PURE]1 player[Loa](59min)Thread

Do that again with the category after the time, just to see how it looks like and try adding spaces to get fixed column widths if that works on this forum software. The biggest concern I have is that tables like that are generally aids to edit. On the upside, this is the most structured display we can get.

it's an HTML table made with custom bbcode tags. You should be able to edit my post, see the source and copypaste/edit if you want. We can customize the table style any way we want, including min-width:X, but I need to do that from the admin panel.

Edit: I don't like fixed width columns, that spreads the table too much, but we can increase the spacing a bit. Currently it's a 1px left and right padding, I could increase that.

Oh dont worry, thats what I did. I just wanted you to do it so you can experience the cancer of moving a column in this table code. Since I was the only one editing new records into the tables lately, I figured if we go for a more annoying solution that someone else would want to participate in that. Now I know that we dont have too many new records per time anymore and getting the old ones to the new format would be pretty easy, but I am just saying...

Beeing able to customize that stuff is nice, lets see what someone else except us has to say.

yea I know the pain, I had to make the table in the first place :p

Updating the tables might take a bit, but I think that after that it's not that bad.

Also, do you want me to make [tas] and [pure] tags so we you don't have to write the color stuff every time? In theory we could make other tags as well (guild, players, etc), but I don't think those make sense.

Looks pretty good tbh, I changed the order once again so we have a direct comparison. Just from looking at it I like it better when the category is at the end right before the link to the thread.

Also I edited the code so its easier to find stuff.
